New Thoughts

I still don't quite know what to do with this blog. It's nice to have one, but I'm a bit leary about sending my thoughts out into the void and wondering (perhaps hoping?) that other people will read them.

My primary tool for contacting people online, Readerville, has drastically changed format and no longer welcomes conversation. I find that very sad. Readerville was a huge part of my life since July 2001, and it's hard to let go of it. The people there helped me through 9-11, the death of Jeanie Flath, through grad school applications & rejections . . . the list goes on. But, I have to admit, it's probably healthier to get away from Readerville when I can. I'll miss the people there, but it'll be a good thing to reclaim the time that I had devoted to Readerville in the past.

Now, I negotiate how to write this blog--how much personal, professional, or other information I intend to publish. After all, I won't forget that article in The Chronicle of Higher Education recommending that people in my position to not have a blog . . .

One more picture for the fun of it

This is a picture of my sister and my friend taken after riding Thunder Canyon at Cedar Point. This is an old picture--it was taken in August of 1990. Back then, I usually held the camera, so there aren't that many pictures of me.

Notice, if you will, my sister's mullet. ;-)

A Picture

This picture was taken in September of 2004:
I'm posting a picture of me for a very specific reason--I'm planning on contacting someone that I knew long ago, and she may need a picture to verify my identity. I'll only leave this post up for a few days, and then it's getting deleted.

Second Thoughts

Having managed to put together this blog, experimented with the template, inserted an RSS link, and forwarded that RSS link to my yahoo page, I think I can say that I kinda sorta know what I'm doing.

And I already have my first comment. What more can a newb like me ask for?

Someday, I might actually post content on this page, but right now its just an experiment in the ether.

First Thoughts

This post is an early attempt at creating my own blog. Let's see how this looks in the final product.
